Insurance Coverage

Insurance coverage is dependent on plan details. However, most members pay $0 out-of-pocket for 3 or more video calls per year. To determine your eligibility, Nutrisense offers a free eligibility check with scheduling.

If your insurance includes a copay, Nutrisense will provide notice of this ahead of your scheduled call.

Cancellation

To cancel a video call, members can find the reschedule or cancel link in the appointment details email. Cancellations made 24 hours before the appointment are free, but any cancellations within 24 hours will incur a $75 fee. Regardless of coverage, insurance will not cover or reimburse this cancellation fee.

How much does nutritionist guidance cost?

If you're eligible for insurance-covered calls, you can get a minimum of three and up to unlimited in-network calls depending on your insurance carrier and plan. There is also a self-pay option for just $50 a session.

What if I need to cancel a video call?

After this initial session, we’ll set up a follow-up schedule tailored to your needs and your insurance coverage, making sure we’re working with what’s best for you.

How do video call follow-ups work?

What if my insurance doesn’t cover the session—will I be auto-charged?

No! Don’t worry; we will never charge you for anything without your consent. Because we work with your carriers to determine your specific plan details, we’ll get in touch to inform you upfront about what you’re eligible for. If there are any potential costs, we’ll confirm them with you before your scheduled session so you can decide whether to move forward with the call and charge the card.

If I have a copay, how will I know what the amount will be?

Most of our members pay $0 out-of-pocket. For the few with a copay, the final cost will depend on the specifics of your plan and insurance provider. We will work with them to find out (most members with a copay pay as little as $35!) and get in touch to let you know so you’re not met with any surprise costs at any point. You can also choose self-pay options for $50 a session.

Can I cancel if my insurance doesn’t cover the session?

While we don't process payments directly through these accounts, our support team can provide you with an invoice in the required format to submit for reimbursement with your HSA/FSA provider.

You can communicate with your Nutrisense nutritionist through video calls, which are typically covered by insurance (if eligible, 95% pay $0 out-of-pocket). If you are eligible for insurance-covered calls, you can get a minimum of three and up to unlimited in-network calls. You can also opt for self-pay options at $50 a session.

Between scheduled calls, you can also communicate with your nutritionist in the Nutrisense App for follow-up questions. Your nutritionist will work with you to help you track your progress and translate data insights into easily digestible information.

How do Nutrisense nutritionists stay up to date on the latest evidence?

Nutrisense nutritionists are required to meet standards of continuing education in order to maintain their credentials from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists. Beyond this, they actively participate in peer-based research reviews and knowledge sharing as described above. All of our registered dietitians and nutritionists also complete the CPEU-approved Nutrisense certification on glucose and metabolic health.

What qualifications do Nutrisense nutritionists have?
